Early on in my teens I found a love for the gym. While eventually I became more consistent, my attention to diet and results came a lot later. Often with everything I just go in head first with 0 knowledge and give it a crack.
Coming out of lockdowns I wanted a new challenge so I slowly began running. Starting with just 2km I slowly built up to a half Marathon over a few months doing my first one on Christmas morning. Since then I've completed two Melbourne Marathons which often happen right after I've hit the peak of my Winter bulk at the gym. Obviously not optimal.
While I think my naivety and enthusiasm has taken me far, I've started to see the cracks in my philosophy. As I mature I am setting goals that require more precision. Balance in place of polarising extremes. Going forward I've created a diet plan thats sustainable, a challenge while also allowing for enjoyable meals. And for Training I definitely won't be going into another marathon at my heaviest again.
It's definitely in my nature to just run through a wall head first, starting a brand with no money and learning how to sew to make the jumpers rather than going to a factory. The way I started Milkbar is consistent with other aspects of my life. I now see where the ceiling of this mentality is. Things aren't complicated to get into but hard to excel in. I'd be the first to tell you there's nothin complex about getting started at the gym but to excel once your a few years in requires further research.
I feel like I'm in the same moment of growth with this business and exercise. Time to actually get studious.
