Dyl and I arrived in Sydney this morning. On late notice we were told our mate Jackson will be holding a fashion show on the sydney harbour sponsored by Pepsi. Insane.
We scrambled to make the trip possible and worth it, booking in as many meetings as possible, seeking out recommendations. Reality is when travelling you want to have the most local experience possible, rejecting a checklist of landmarks to tick off. We consulted a few mates on some spots to hit but this morning in between recommendations we found an old Leather store in Redfern with a big sign "clearance sale".
When we walked in we were greeted by a man in his early 70s, David. We spoke about his immigration from Iceland to originally Melbourne where he spent 2 years in Broadmeadows sharing a small house with his mates. He mentioned a hole in the floor that would often invite stray cats into the residence at night.
We looked at the rack and two pieces stood out to me. They were Green, Yellow and Tan Australian Hockey Team Leather Jackets, at least 25 years old. Suede Torso and Sunfading on the leather sleeves. $140 in cash for one of my best grails.
If any of you are local to Sydney I'd love to hear your recommendations as opposed to just ticking off the list!
