Two Years of Development: The Fitted T-Shirt & A New Chapter

The funniest thing to find out as a Fashion consumer is that a lot of items coming out that are "new" were drawn up and designed 12-24 months ago. This hasn't usually been the case with me, working locally has allowed me to be nimble. Sometimes turn arounds being as quick as 1-2 months in the past.

With this latest drop of Fitted T-Shirts I have been developing them almost as long as my brand has been around. On my story I'll attach an image of an early mockup. Whenever possible this kind of breathing room in a products development always pays off, The Beatas went through numerous samples and they've been my best sellers.

This Fitted T-Shirt range is all about bringing you all along with me as my taste changes, allowing for evolution of the brand. Avoiding the temptations of stagnation. I've never been afraid to take the risks necessary to fuck around and find out. This at times has been my greatest tool and at others my biggest weakness.

"My Milkbar is a Cafe Now", after hearing rumours around the suburb for years my childhood Milkbar that was sedentary is running as a renovated Cafe. A common trend in Melbourne now. When I started Milkbar I was fresh out of high school self taught how to sew clothes and got going. Naivety was my fuel for optimism. These hopes have been ripped apart and put back together again several times as the realities of owning a business and working within an industry have hit me. Starting out there was a much more nostalgic romantic view of how I would run the business.

As Milkbar's die out we long for the nostalgia although they cannot survive in todays market. These cafes that pop up in their place respect the tradition of our culture and what those memories mean to us while actually functioning in the modern. Coming out of last year I knew things would have to change to not only grow but to survive. This drop is the first step in that evolution. My Milkbar is a Cafe Now.
